DRESS CODE

The following dress code is mandatory for all Academy students Monday through Friday and all school functions.  Clothing may be purchased at any local store of your choosing, but we request you refrain from purchasing items with large logos.  The attempt is to set guidelines for apparel that will contribute to a positive learning environment and prevent appearances from being a distraction.  These standards apply to all school events unless otherwise specified.

Academy logoed apparel may be worn at any time.  Special activities or events may allow a revision of the standard dress code, but the intent of this policy must always be maintained.  Written guidelines will be distributed in advance for any changes in dress code.

Girls:    Solid black, navy, khaki, olive, charcoal, or brown skirts, skorts, shorts, jumpers or long pants.

Solid colored (contrasting to skirts, skorts, shorts, jumpers or long pants) blouses or polo shirts.

Boys:    Solid black, navy, khaki, olive, charcoal, or brown shorts or pants.

Solid colored (contrasting to shorts or pants) polo shirts.

a.      Sweat pants and jeans are not proper dress code.

b.      Shorts and skorts may be worn to school, but they should be no shorter than finger tips in length when the arms are extended by the side.

c.       Jumpers and skirts must be no shorter than two inches above the knee.

d.      Shoes should be appropriate for safe active play.  Laces should always be tied.  High heels, crocs of any style, wheelies, platform shoes, noisy sandals and flip-flops are not permitted.  All sandals must fasten around the ankle or lower leg.

e.      Long skirts are dangerous on steps, playground equipment and active play.  They are not permitted on playground equipment or during active play.

f.        Gym shoes are required for physical education times.

g.      Students must remove hats upon entering the building.

h.      Baggy pants hanging off the hips are not permissible.

i.        Bare midriffs are not permitted.

j.        Abnormal make-up and hair colors or streaks are not permitted.
